Lagre Mining Plant in Russia - Customer Case Study

BASF worked with Lagre Mining Plant in Russia to improve the performance of its phosphate flotation process and meet new environmental regulations coming into force in Europe. The plant needed a better collector solution, and BASF evaluated products from its Lupromin® range to find a suitable replacement.

BASF tested and validated the Lupromin® collector in the lab and in plant trials before full-scale rollout, then further improved it into a single all-season product. The result was a 2.5% increase in phosphate recovery, CO2 emissions reduced by 2.5% per ton of phosphate produced, about €6 million in annual financial benefit, 40% lower reagent dosage than the previous product, reduced tailings, and improved health and safety through the use of a phenol-free product.
