A BASF Case Study
BASF worked with Kier on the refurbishment of The Crescent Primary School in Croydon, a listed Edwardian grammar school being upgraded to provide better school places and a more modern learning environment. Kier needed to improve the building’s thermal performance, but the cavity wall construction, with brick stretchers tying the outer and inner leaves together, ruled out most standard cavity fill products. BASF’s WALLTITE CV100 spray foam injection was specified to address this challenge.
BASF’s WALLTITE injection-grade rigid closed-cell polyurethane foam was installed to seal gaps, reduce air leakage and infiltration, and improve insulation without shrinking or settling over time. Combined with new windows and roof insulation, the solution helped the refurbished building approach new-build performance levels and supported the target U-value of 0.3W/m²K. The upgrade also reduced condensation and noise transfer, improving comfort and efficiency throughout the school.
