Case Study: A&F Pilbeam Construction achieves low-U-value roof insulation with BASF WALLTITE CL100

A BASF Case Study

Preview of the A&F Pilbeam Construction Case Study

Curved roof poses no problem for WALLTITE® spray foam insulation

BASF worked with A&F Pilbeam Construction on a new five-storey mixed-use development at 63 Holland Road in Hove. The main challenge was insulating the curved roof of the penthouse flat, where the original specification could not achieve the required radius or the low U-value needed to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 requirements. BASF’s WALLTITE CL100 spray foam insulation was identified as the suitable product for the project.

BASF, through its approved contractor Isotech Sprayfoam, supplied and installed WALLTITE spray foam insulation to the curved penthouse roof, creating a seamless, airtight thermal layer. The foam was applied to around 144m2 at a depth of 235mm, helping minimize air leakage and improve thermal performance. The solution enabled the roof construction to proceed and was expected to achieve a final U-value of 0.1W/m2K.
