A BarTender Case Study
Leading Dairy Farm, a small organic dairy in the US Midwest, faced new FSMA traceability requirements that forced them to test each milk batch 12 times over 72 hours and be able to produce lot records within 24 hours. Manually hand-labeling and recording data for roughly 11,000 batches per year was time-consuming, error-prone, and risky for food safety, so the farm turned to BarTender labeling software to create an agile, regulatory-ready labeling solution.
BarTender delivered an automated labeling system that prints a complete set of 18 labels per sample (12 vial labels plus paperwork) from a single BarTender file, with BarTender-generated barcodes for scan-based data capture; the farm uses durable Zebra three-up circle labels for the chilled samples. The BarTender-driven solution eliminated handwritten labels, reduced errors, restored hours of staff time, enabled rapid retrieval of records to meet FSMA requirements, and after a year the farm manages label production and new formats independently with minimal support.
