Case Study: OmegaFlex achieves up to 70% higher throughput with BarTender's automated labeling system

A BarTender Case Study

OmegaFlex increases throughput rates by up to 70% with BarTender’s automated labeling system

OmegaFlex, a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of flexible metal hoses, faced a slow, error-prone labeling and testing process driven by a single central printer, a paper-based workflow and a limited Microsoft Access tracking database. To modernize operations they adopted BarTender software — including Intelligent Templates and the BarTender Integration Platform — to move from manual, centralized labeling to an automated, distributed labeling approach.

Systems integrator IPSi implemented a solution built around BarTender, a SQL database, 12 Zebra printers and Red Lion HMI panels to connect MES/PLC triggers and print at individual workstations. The BarTender-driven system increased throughput by up to 70% (testing rose from ~20 to more than 30 units per hour), saved supervisors about two hours per week, reduced labeling errors and improved data accuracy and control.
