Vetter Pharma ensures patient safety with centralized, SAP-integrated BarTender® solution

Vetter Pharma Fertigung GmbH & Co. KG, a global leader in aseptic filling of syringes, cartridges and vials, needed accurate, traceable, GMP‑compliant labeling that could accommodate diverse customer layouts, variable data (batch numbers, expiry, customer material numbers), and serialization — all integrated with their SAP system. To meet these requirements they used BarTender, deploying the BarTender Enterprise Automation edition as the core label design and printing engine.

Using BarTender integrated into an OPAL SAP‑label management environment, Vetter implemented a three‑system landscape (dev/test/prod) that pulls variable data directly from SAP, controls ~30 industrial printers, enforces GMP versioning and audit trails, and supports serialization. The BarTender solution eliminated manual data entry, improved label quality and traceability, and now produces roughly 2,000 cartons per day (about 450,000 shipping labels annually) with automated, scalable label printing and a transparent audit trail.
