A BareMetrics Case Study
ReadMe is a five-person startup rethinking API documentation, and they relied on Baremetrics to track growth and inform strategy. Their biggest challenge was a $14/mo Documentation tier that attracted users with different needs, drove up support costs, and split focus across the product — a classic loss leader that was creating operational strain.
Using Baremetrics’ Compare Plans feature, ReadMe confirmed the $14 plan generated just 7% of revenue but 31% of support requests, with little conversion to higher plans. They stopped offering that tier to new signups, and the results were immediate: revenue churn fell from 5.4% to 2.5%, MRR growth stayed steady, and daily support requests dropped from about 25 to 15.
