Case Study: Redding Electric Utility strengthens emergency response and wildfire coordination with Barco

Reimagining Response Redding Electric Utility's Emergency Operations Center

Redding Electric Utility (REU) faced the challenge of expanding its emergency operations and oversight to prevent and respond to wildfires, as mandated by the state of California. After destructive fires and storms, REU needed a new mission-critical operations center with advanced data visualization and real-time communication capabilities. They partnered with vendor Barco and integrator Vistacom to reimagine their emergency response.

Barco's solution featured a large UniSee LCD video wall system driven by its command and control ecosystem, including TransForm N CMS and SecureStream for data sharing. This was complemented by ClickShare for wireless collaboration. The results were a highly efficient operations center that enables real-time decision-making, seamless coordination between city departments and field staff, and a significantly improved ability to manage large-scale emergencies and ensure reliable power distribution.
