Illuminating cosmic journeys at Gates Planetarium

The Gates Planetarium, located at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, required a new projection solution to replace its aging projectors. Their challenge was to find highly reliable, bright projectors with superior color consistency to run up to twelve astronomy shows a day, seamlessly blending complex video inputs for their 5K dome.

Barco addressed this with the installation of F35 WQXGA projectors, which were integrated by Evans & Sutherland. The solution doubled the resolution and delivered stunning, reliable 17-megapixel imagery. The results allowed the planetarium to effortlessly switch between different presentation systems multiple times daily, expanding its live programming. Due to this success, the museum procured additional Barco projectors, including an F85 and multiple F32 units, for use in other areas.
