Beijing Shitongdaohe Culture - Customer Case Study

The customer, Beijing Shitongdaohe Culture, faced the challenge of reviving an industrial scar—a polluted mining pit—by turning a century-old, uneven cliff face into a permanent outdoor projection mapping theater for an immersive show. This required a solution that could handle a complex, curved surface while overcoming issues of color loss and demanding environmental conditions for installation. Barco was selected to provide the high-brightness projection technology needed for this task.

Barco implemented a solution using nearly 70 of its UDX-4K40 laser projectors. Their high brightness, 3DLP technology, and compact design allowed for seamless image blending to bring the visuals to life on the 20,000m² surface. A specially designed projection room was built to protect the equipment outdoors. The result was a magnificent and immersive show that successfully revitalized the area, restored the ecosystem, and created a new cultural landmark for Nanjing. The customer's General Manager stated that Barco's technology fully met the needs of the demanding task and expressed confidence in future collaborations.
