Barco projectors enable you to see the northern lights every day of the year

The Artic University Museum in Tromsø, Norway, wanted to create an innovative and scientifically accurate exhibition to showcase the northern lights, moving beyond a traditional static museum setup. Their challenge was to reliably recreate the aurora borealis, which requires excellent black levels for the colors to be displayed properly. They partnered with Barco to achieve this with an advanced projection solution.

Barco implemented a solution using ten G60-W8 and two F80-4K7 projectors. This technology successfully recreated the northern lights in true color, providing a wow experience for visitors and enabling an easy switch between tourist-oriented and educational content. The Barco projectors' excellent black levels and reliability were critical to the project's success, helping the museum prove that such institutions can be dynamic and appealing to younger audiences.
