Barco and ST Engineering Antycip equip state-of-the-art flight simulator at ONERA The French Research Lab

The French aerospace research lab ONERA (ICNA unit) required a highly realistic flight simulator to study new human-system interaction concepts for complex operations like aircraft piloting. Their goal was to immerse human operators in an environment as close to reality as possible, which demanded a advanced visual system. To meet this challenge, they partnered with vendor Barco.

Barco implemented a solution using three of its FL40-4K MKII projectors to power the simulator's large cylindrical screen, providing a wide 220-degree field of view. The system included features like auto-calibration, dynamic points-of-view for pilot and co-pilot, and head-tracking. The result was a state-of-the-art simulator that ONERA reported exceeded their expectations, fully satisfying their rigorous research requirements and successfully immersing operators in a realistic environment.
