Animating historical art with a projection mapping show at Shanghai Concert Hall

The Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall, a historic landmark in Shanghai, sought to revitalize its cultural presence and enhance urban tourism through a large-scale exterior projection mapping show. To animate its architecture with a show blending Chinese tradition and Western culture, the venue worked with Barco and their partner, utilizing Barco UDX projectors for this demanding visual project.

Barco implemented a solution using twenty UDX projectors to deliver a high-brightness, wide-color-gamut 3D mapping show tailored to the building's facade. The projectors' rugged and compact design ensured operational stability for the duration of the event. The result was an eight-minute visual masterpiece that transformed the concert hall into a dynamic historical scroll, celebrating Chinese heritage and creating a new, immersive form of urban cultural entertainment, thereby refreshing the vision of the city's tourism sector. Barco also provided projectors for an accompanying interior musical concert, further demonstrating their commitment to innovative visualization solutions.
