3D hybrid dome theater creates 700m2 immersive experience

The experimenta Science Center in Heilbronn, Germany, worked with Austrian audiovisual specialist Kraftwerk Living Technologies to create a unique, multi-purpose dome theater. Their challenge, supported by vendor Barco, was to build a hybrid facility capable of hosting a wide range of events, from planetarium shows and digital cinema to art and theater productions, all within a single, intelligent design.

Barco's solution included supplying six XDL 4K-60L projectors for the massive 700m2 dome and a DP4K-30LRGB laser projector for cinema. This technology integration resulted in an immersive venue with exceptionally bright, 8Kx8K resolution 3D imagery and special effects. The Barco components provided the reliability needed to create a seamless, awe-inspiring experience that fosters a love of science and curiosity for visitors of all ages.
