ASAP Systems HelpsVancouver Police Department Track Law Enforcement Equipment and Stock Inventory

The Vancouver (Wash.) Police Department faced growing organizational and regulatory pressures as acquisitions of equipment and consumables rose sharply. Previously reliant on paper check-out systems and multiple spreadsheets, VPD could not easily demonstrate asset transfers, disposals, or meet city and state audit requirements; staff cuts also limited the department’s ability to perform cycle counts, audits, or verify issued equipment.

VPD implemented a barcode-based inventory and asset-tracking system with auto-generated and agency-tagged identifiers, centralized grant documentation, photo tagging, and robust reporting. The system now tracks more than 5,000 assets (≈$3M), associates 200+ grant transactions, simplifies audits and calibration scheduling, reduces overstocking and losses, and saves time and money by improving accountability and locating items across warehouses.
