Star Pipe Products Is Moving Freight Through The Pipeline

Star Pipe Products, a global manufacturer and supplier of iron products with 14 North American regional distribution centers, faced an inefficient less-than-truckload (LTL) TMS that required heavy manual data entry and ad-hoc rate-shopping as tariffs grew more complex. To standardize operations and automate LTL buying, Star Pipe Products engaged Banyan Technology, a SaaS-based logistics data connectivity platform, for an LTL rate-shopping solution.

Banyan Technology built a custom freight API connecting Star Pipe’s TMS to its WMS to programmatically tender shipments to the best-value, fastest LTL carriers, automating rate-shopping and centralizing carrier management. The automation removed the need for multiple manual rate-shopper roles (Star Pipe estimates Banyan’s cost is about one salary while saving the equivalent of six to seven), standardized processes across all 14 sites, improved operational flexibility, and ensured headquarters-negotiated rates were enforced.
