Eliminating supply chain blindspots, boosting the bottom line

Zambian Breweries, an emerging market brewery, faced significant inefficiencies within its agricultural value chain. The company struggled with insecure supply, unpredictable crop yields, protracted growing seasons, and inventory loss due to a reliance on paper records and cash transactions. To maximize profitability and secure its supply of cassava and sorghum from smallholder farmers, Zambian Breweries needed a robust traceability solution and partnered with BanQu for its blockchain-based platform.

BanQu implemented its traceability platform to connect all stakeholders from farmers to the brewery. The solution digitized operations, tracked inventory, and recorded transactions and farmer training. This provided Zambian Breweries with real-time data and end-to-end visibility. As a result, BanQu helped register over 17,000 farmers, capture over 67,000 transactions, and track the purchase of over 81 million kilos of crop. The partnership secured local supply, reduced the cassava growing season, minimized financial risk, and provided the data needed for operational and sustainability excellence.
