Cervecería Nacional sought to launch a sustainable beer brand, Nuestra Siembra, to support local farmers and prove its responsible sourcing practices to stakeholders and qualify for a government tax incentive. Their challenge was the need for a highly dependable data capture tool to gather granular, farm-level data for complete transparency and to facilitate a Digital Product Passport for consumers.
Partnering with BanQu, Cervecería Nacional implemented its blockchain-based platform to achieve full traceability from seed to bottle. The solution captured verifiable data on farmer payments, crop quality, and geo-located transactions. The results included registering 684 farmers, purchasing over 2 million kilos of local barley, rice, and corn, and impacting 11 provinces. BanQu enabled the creation of a QR code label for consumer transparency and provided the proof of local sourcing needed for the tax incentive.
