Travel Iowa’s Parks Passport Sets Up Destination for Future Marketing Success

Travel Iowa partnered with Bandwango to launch the Iowa State Park Passport as part of the state parks centennial celebration in 2020. With COVID-19 disrupting tourism and in-person events, Travel Iowa needed a way to encourage safe outdoor visitation, engage locals and visitors, and create new marketing value from park traffic.

Bandwango’s destination experience platform powered the passport, enabling users to sign up, check in at 60+ state parks, and earn rewards while Travel Iowa tracked every sign-up, check-in, and redemption through real one-to-one data. In just the initial period, the campaign generated 9,531 sign-ups, 5,927 check-ins, 5,944 marketing opt-ins, and full redemption of the 800 T-shirts and 100 art prints, giving Travel Iowa stronger audience data and a model for future statewide tourism campaigns.
