DePaul revamps its course feedback process

DePaul University, one of the nation’s largest Catholic universities, needed a better way to gather meaningful course feedback. Traditional end-of-course surveys were too quantitative and prescriptive to surface new ideas, and with many students learning remotely, instructors had limited face-to-face interaction and little substantive input to improve the course. Balloon helped DePaul address this challenge with its Insight Mobility platform.

Using Balloon, DePaul launched a feedback session in hours and collected over 200 student ideas and comments in a single day. The platform enabled students to discuss, refine, and prioritize suggestions anonymously, leading to stronger insights, higher remote participation, and actionable improvements such as better textbook use, more effective lecture time, and potential lab additions. Balloon helped DePaul uncover feedback that standard surveys had missed and adapt the course to better fit student needs.
