East Coast Catalyst builds FYFO and facial-recognition security with Ballast Lane Applications

The customer, East Coast Catalyst, partnered with Ballast Lane Applications to build For Your Face Only (FYFO), an innovative social sharing app. Their challenge was to create a platform where users could see their friends' video reactions to shared content and to implement robust security features ensuring private content could only be viewed by the intended recipient.

Ballast Lane Applications developed the iOS and Android apps along with the entire backend, using AWS Rekognition for facial recognition. This allowed for secure, private content sharing that would stop playing if an unauthorized face was detected. In a subsequent engagement, Ballast Lane further developed a proof of concept and SDK to expand this security technology for use in sensitive scenarios like viewing financial information.
