TAPP, an Amsterdam-based startup in the point-of-sale and payments space, wanted a reliable way to connect and update Raspberry Pi-powered devices installed in bars and restaurants. Before working with Balena, the team relied on a DIY approach that wasn’t scalable and made deployments risky because they feared bricking customer devices.

With Balena’s Docker container-based device management platform, TAPP was able to centrally manage its fleet and push updates much more safely and efficiently. Balena helped the team maintain deployment velocity and quality as they grew, and TAPP reported that a major backend update was rolled out to devices in about 20 minutes, giving the team greater confidence and peace of mind when deploying.
