Sonder, the San Francisco-based hospitality company, uses connected Raspberry Pis across its serviced-apartment spaces to control keyless entry, thermostats, and lighting. As their fleet of devices grew, they struggled to manage and monitor everything efficiently, and needed a simpler way to handle deployment and operations.

Balena provided the solution through balenaCloud and its brownfield device migration service, allowing Sonder to remotely move existing devices onto the platform instead of visiting each site manually. With Balena, Sonder gained better fleet visibility, easier software updates, and a scalable way to add features, and now manages a fleet of over 900 devices remotely across all of its spaces.
