Fortune 100 Company Speeds Up Discovery and Reporting of Log4j Vulnerabilities

Fortune 100 company faced the Log4Shell zero-day in December 2021 and needed to find and patch Log4j instances across millions of assets; initial estimates put discovery alone at 2–3 months. They engaged Balbix and its Balbix platform to accelerate identification and reporting of affected applications and assets.

Balbix ingested package manager data and performed live runtime process analysis to locate embedded and packaged Log4j instances, added business-context prioritization, and continuously tracked mitigations and patches. As a result, Balbix began identifying instances within hours, ultimately finding Log4j in over 1,000 application versions across more than 60,000 assets (including ~450 versions on ~5,000 critical assets), reduced discovery and reporting from months to weeks (meeting a 6-week remediation mandate), and delivered a false-positive rate under 0.1% with data the customer called 4x–8x more actionable.
