ChemDirect, a B2B chemical marketplace built on Magento, faced rapid ecommerce growth and needed a scalable checkout that could handle large transaction volumes, simplify inventory management, and offer more payment methods than their existing Stripe and custom purchase-order workflows. To meet buyer demand for a consumer-grade B2B checkout, ChemDirect engaged Balance and its ChemPay flexible financing solution to modernize payments across the marketplace.

Balance implemented its full payments stack — financing, invoicing, and B2B payment methods — via a Magento integration and dashboard, including a qualification API that can pre-approve buyers for up to $50,000 of credit. Since launching Balance’s checkout, ChemDirect has made over $20M in buying power available, financed 24% of transactions, and extended financing to more than 2,000 buyers, streamlining underwriting and improving the overall buyer experience.
