Case Study: Orange România achieves transparent audit and control of privileged access with BalaBit SCB

Internal and external staff control at leading telecom operator

Orange România, a leading telecom operator, needed a way to audit privileged access to sensitive applications, service platforms, and network devices used by employees, consultants, and suppliers. The company was looking for a solution that could monitor remote access over SSH, SFTP, SCP, RDP, Telnet, and VNC without forcing users to change their normal client applications.

BalaBit implemented Shell Control Box (SCB) to provide transparent user activity monitoring in two environments: one for auditing external suppliers and consultants over VPN, and another high-availability cluster for privileged access to the billing system. With BalaBit’s SCB, Orange România gained OCR-based search in graphical audit trails, file transfer control, and secure, non-intrusive auditing; the solution has been in production since September 2012 and helped extend complete audit coverage across critical systems.
