Western Alliance Bank, headquartered in Phoenix, faced rapid growth that strained its manual business loan origination process and limited loan officers’ ability to pursue larger commercial deals. To streamline and automate its small business lending lifecycle, Western Alliance turned to Baker Hill’s loan origination solution (expanded over time to include AppLink, Exception Advisor, Statement Analyzer and Advisor for Portfolio Risk Management).

Baker Hill implemented a web-based origination platform that embeds Western Alliance’s credit policies, aggregates applicant financial data, and supports multiple decision strategies to speed and standardize underwriting. Since adopting Baker Hill’s solution in 2004, Western Alliance has grown assets from under $3 billion to almost $20 billion, expanded automated lending from loans < $250,000 to loans up to $500,000, and enabled lenders to spend more time pursuing larger, higher-value deals.
