Rolls-Royce launches real-time power plant monitoring app in 5 months with BairesDev

Rolls-Royce, a provider of power and electrical solutions, was legally required to furnish material safety data sheets (MSDS) for hazardous substances. While its web-based MSDS system provided real-time sensor data from nuclear power plants, this critical information was only accessible to personnel on-site. Their challenge was to build a mobile application to deliver the same real-time data, alerts, and alarms to authorized users remotely, thereby improving plant safety and monitoring capabilities. They engaged BairesDev to develop this solution.

BairesDev assembled a five-person software development team that created a Progressive Web Application (PWA) as a Minimum Viable Product. This approach reused the existing web app's codebase to speed up development, allowing the team to deliver the new mobile app in just five months. The solution from BairesDev enables real-time monitoring of multiple power plants on one app, with features including customizable alerts, historical data analysis, and remote access with advanced cybersecurity. The outcome is that plant administrators can now monitor crucial sensor data and receive alarms from anywhere, directly on their mobile devices.
