A Badgr Case Study
Upskill San Antonio partnered with Badgr to support a regional workforce development initiative aimed at helping frontline Goodwill San Antonio employees build the skills needed for middle-skill jobs and long-term socioeconomic mobility. The challenge was to create a clear, motivating path for workers—many of whom face time, financial, and logistical barriers to education—while connecting learning to real career advancement.
Using Badgr’s digital credential platform, UpSkill SA launched stackable, badge-embedded micro-pathways: a “Skills Booster” track for 21st-century skills and a “Certificate+” track leading into college-level certificates at Palo Alto College. The program provided learners with portable digital badges, support services, and credit-bearing credentials, helping participants gain confidence, complete training, and progress toward roles with significantly higher pay, including a cited 190% wage growth opportunity over 48 months.
