Teacher Professional Development Gets Personal With Micro-Credentials

Digital Promise, a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on improving learning opportunities, needed a better way to deliver professional development for educators beyond traditional one-size-fits-all workshops. Working with Badgr’s digital badging platform, the organization sought a more personalized, on-demand way for teachers to earn and demonstrate discrete competencies through evidence-based micro-credentials.

Badgr helped Digital Promise launch and scale a micro-credentialing program where educators collect, submit, and earn verifiable digital badges they can store, share, and embed online. The result was a widely adopted program with more than 400 micro-credentials and participation across 47 states plus Washington, D.C., supporting teacher growth with flexible, research-backed professional learning and measurable classroom impact.
