Digital Badges Facilitate Economic Mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) needed a way to support economic mobility across Latin America and the Caribbean by helping institutions move from face-to-face training to online learning and by issuing portable, verifiable credentials for workforce-relevant skills. To address this, IDB partnered with Badgr and used its digital badging and learning pathway tools, including support for multilingual adoption across the region.

Badgr enabled IDB to launch digital badge programs and structured learning pathways such as Project Management for Results (PM4R), helping recognize skills and competencies rather than seat time. The solution made achievements more visible and portable for learners, employers, and education providers, supported broader adoption of micro-credentials in LAC, and helped IDB strengthen its role as a leader in lifelong learning and skills-based development.
