The Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) faced a challenge with outdated mechanical meters that provided unreliable data, making it impossible to accurately measure water supply, demand, and loss across its vast service area. To address this, WAJ worked with vendor Badger Meter and its distributor to upgrade its metering system using the ModMAG M5000 electromagnetic flow meter.

Badger Meter's solution involved installing 187 battery-powered M5000 meters equipped with GSM data loggers. This allowed for automated, remote data transmission via the 4G network, eliminating the need for manual meter reading. The implementation resulted in a three-fold increase in billing revenue for WAJ, significantly improved measurement accuracy, and reduced labor and fuel costs by lowering the time staff spent in the field.
