A Badger Meter Case Study
The Village of Lombard, a municipality in Illinois, faced challenges with its 14 sanitary lift stations, including inaccurate flow data and chronic overflows due to inflow and infiltration (I&I). Their previous low-cost ultrasonic doppler flow meters had failed and provided insufficient accuracy. To address this, the customer partnered with Badger Meter to implement a solution using the Dynasonics® TFX-5000 ultrasonic transit time flow meter.
Badger Meter's solution involved installing non-invasive, clamp-on ultrasonic meters that provided highly accurate flow measurements without requiring a shutdown of operations. This allowed the Village to analyze I&I conditions, optimize pump performance, and plan maintenance. The implementation resulted in a significant return on investment, reduced overall project costs, and provided the data needed to prioritize budget allocations and prevent system failures.
