Salisbury-Rowan Utilities boosts revenue 4.2% in year one with Badger Meter

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU), a water utility serving Rowan County, North Carolina, faced challenges with aging infrastructure and non-revenue water. An analysis revealed many of their meters were outdated, with an average age of 17 years, leading to inaccurate billing and inefficient operations. To address this, SRU partnered with vendor Badger Meter to deploy a smart water solution.

Badger Meter implemented a system using E-Series Ultrasonic meters, ORION Cellular endpoints, and BEACON® Software as a Service. This provided highly accurate, hourly data and real-time alerts for leaks and tampering. The results were significant: SRU experienced a 4.2% revenue increase within the first year of the pilot project due to improved accuracy.
