Paducah Water boosts revenue 20.3% with Badger Meter

Paducah Water, the municipal water utility for the city of Paducah, Kentucky, faced a challenge with its outdated manual meter reading system and older water meters, which were found to be unreliable and inefficient. The utility needed a solution to improve the accuracy and reliability across its entire system to better serve its 27,000 customers. They partnered with vendor Badger Meter to implement an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution.

Badger Meter's solution utilized ORION Cellular endpoints and the BEACON Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, along with E-Series Ultrasonic meters for commercial customers. This provided a flexible, cellular-driven system that required no costly infrastructure. The results were a significant and immediate increase in revenue, with a 9.6% rise from 1-1/2 inch meters and a 20.3% rise from 2 inch meters within the first six months, allowing the utility to fund further upgrades.
