IRETI protects 2.8 million residents’ drinking water with Badger Meter real-time nitrate monitoring

The Italian utility IRETI faced a challenge in safeguarding its drinking water supply, specifically needing to monitor nitrate concentrations in real-time to quickly detect contamination from agricultural runoff. To address this, IRETI worked with vendor Badger Meter to implement a solution using the BlueEdge suite, including the spectro::lyser V3 probe and chlodi::lyser sensor connected to their con::cube V3 control unit.

Badger Meter's solution provided continuous, high-frequency water quality monitoring, delivering precise and real-time data. This allowed IRETI to react immediately to rising nitrate levels. The system's automatic brush cleaning minimized maintenance and reduced operating costs. The implementation gave the utility instant access to accurate data, enabling them to prevent contamination and ensure safe drinking water for the 2.8 million residents they serve.
