A Bader Rutter Case Study
The Milwaukee Bucks, a small-market NBA team, faced the challenge of securing a high-value jersey patch sponsor. They needed to capture the attention of CMOs at major global brands, a difficult task for any team and made harder by the intense competition for marketing dollars. The vendor, Bader Rutter, was engaged to help the team overcome this obstacle and find a new sponsor.
Bader Rutter created an inventive direct mail campaign centered around a custom pair of Giannis Antetokounmpo's size 16 Nike shoes, each showcasing a different global brand. These shoes and a branded jersey were presented in custom laser-engraved boxes with video screens to pitch the sponsorship opportunity directly to targeted CMOs. The solution by Bader Rutter successfully started multiple conversations, resulting in Motorola becoming the jersey patch sponsor and the Milwaukee Bucks signing four additional non-jersey sponsorship deals.
