UKfast Relies on Bacula Backup and Data Recovery

UKFast, a UK hosting provider, faced escalating backup challenges after investing in Veritas and Netvault: early solutions struggled with growing data volumes (over two terabytes at the time), lacked reliable SQL and system‑state backup support, and suffered slow support and Linux client issues. To address these problems, UKFast evaluated and adopted Bacula Systems’ Bacula backup and data recovery solution.

Bacula Systems implemented a tested, scalable Bacula deployment that restored reliability and enabled new service offerings; UKFast now runs 105 Bacula servers, trusts the system with over 27 TB of client data (43.8 TB of backup space allocated), and benefits from zero‑cost licenses that freed budget for stronger hardware. The solution also delivered greater customization, monitoring and logging via Bacula’s console, and measurable cost and performance improvements.
