Texas A&M University - Customer Case Study

Texas A&M University faced growing backup challenges as its environment expanded from Mac and Windows servers to many Linux systems and multiple arrays, and their previous tape-based solution became unreliable. To address this, the university selected Bacula Systems and deployed Bacula Enterprise Edition to provide cross-platform backup and easier recovery across its diverse infrastructure.

Bacula Systems implemented Bacula Enterprise Edition (upgrading from the community version) with BWeb for deployment, supporting the department’s RAID storage and mix of operating systems and databases. The solution was up and running in four days, cut time spent on backup and restore by almost 60%, and reduced some jobs from two days to under half a day, while offering reliable throughput, simpler troubleshooting, and no need for additional software.
