Simlog Chooses Bacula Enterprise Edition For Single File Restore

Simlog, a developer of PC‑based training simulators founded in 1999, faced the challenge of protecting critical data scattered across diverse departments, workstations and servers in both physical and virtual environments. They needed a highly configurable, cross‑platform backup and recovery solution with strong command‑line and scripting capabilities and the ability to perform two‑level backups. Simlog selected Bacula Systems’ Bacula Enterprise Edition to meet those needs.

Bacula Systems implemented Bacula Enterprise Edition (after an initial Community deployment), with Simlog completing the main rollout in under a week following Bacula admin training. The solution provides per‑client configuration, support for multiple storage media, incremental/differential backups, and both CLI and BWeb GUI management. As a result, Simlog performs daily backups, can rapidly perform single‑file restores (reducing user disruption and delivering measurable cost savings), recovered a water‑damaged server from tape quickly, and now benefits from improved monitoring and reporting for capacity and retention planning.
