SDV Relies on Bacula Data Recovery

SdV Plurimedia, an IT architect and integrator serving leading TV, newspaper and media companies (with more than 1,000 servers under management), faced a severe backup bottleneck and rising costs from proprietary backup licensing. The single-server backup architecture could not meet a 24‑hour backup window and scaling to multiple servers would have driven license costs even higher, creating vendor lock-in and making growth unsustainable. SdV turned to Bacula Systems and its Bacula backup solution/Professional Services to address these constraints.

Bacula Systems migrated SdV to a scalable Bacula architecture—deploying ten backup servers to support well over 1,000 data servers—and completed the migration in under five weeks. The new solution cut SdV’s backup time to three hours, handles typical incremental backups of ~2 TB (8 million files) and full backups of ~20 TB (180 million files), and scales beyond 300 TB. Bacula Systems also delivered a customized interface, reporting/monitoring tools and an open SQL catalog, eliminating vendor lock-in and delivering high performance at much lower cost.
