Play Safeguards Its Cloud Offerings To Its Vendors Using Bacula Enterprise and Inteos

Play, a leading Polish mobile operator with over 15 million subscribers, needed a simple, reliable commercial backup solution for its cloud services to vendors after outgrowing Bacula Community. The team sought easy backup and restore, advanced deduplication to control storage, multi-site replication and broad compatibility across many technologies and applications. Having tested Bacula Community, Play chose Bacula Systems’ commercial offering, Bacula Enterprise, with implementation support from Inteos.

Bacula Systems, working with Inteos, deployed Bacula Enterprise using the Global Endpoint Deduplication, VMware and MySQL plugins and the BWeb Management Suite. The rollout was fast and well supported, enabling backups of physical and virtual machines, Debian/Red Hat/CentOS systems and critical PostgreSQL/MySQL databases. Bacula Systems’ deduplication effectively reduced backup volume, Bacula’s licensing (not charging by data volume) improved cost forecasting, and Play is expanding storage and planning multi-site replication as usage grows.
