Invest Finance Bank was operating a complex, semi-automatic backup environment with multiple media types (including magnetic tapes and autochangers), slow addition of new backup objects, and a need for granular VM/file restores, Oracle support, Solaris compatibility and centralized management. After a month-long proof of concept and support testing with Bacula Systems, the bank selected Bacula Enterprise to replace the ad hoc script-based solution.

Bacula Systems provided a Bacula Enterprise subscription (automatic backup/recovery for 50 backup objects) with VMware and Oracle plugins and the BWeb Management Suite for centralized administration; implementation was supported by distributor Backup Solutions. The deployment delivered centralized, scalable backups, granular VM and file recovery, and a significantly lower total cost of ownership; Invest Finance Bank assigned a dedicated backup specialist and staff received training at Bacula Systems, with magnetic tape support planned next.
