AutoVHC - Customer Case Study

AutoVHC, delivered by BTC Solutions, runs a mission‑critical Vehicle Health Check system with a PostgreSQL cluster that handles around one million hits per day and serves some 5,000 users. The customer needed a reliable off‑site backup solution able to perform hourly PostgreSQL dumps across a cluster, protect uploaded files, code, logs and configs from 22 mixed‑OS servers (initially ~50 GB) and support daily jobs with 1–2 GB of incremental data per day. Bacula Systems’ Bacula Backup and Data Recovery was chosen to meet these requirements.

Bacula Systems implemented Bacula (Enterprise) with an off‑site Storage Daemon, completing selection and deployment in three months and final production setup in two days. The solution reduced full backup time to just over an hour for 50 GB (one job at a time) and nightly incrementals to about ten minutes, delivered roughly 50% cost savings versus alternatives, improved reliability, and includes a full Bacula Systems support contract—allowing AutoVHC to redeploy resources to other projects.
