A Backtrace.io Case Study
Roblox, the global gaming platform with over 100 million monthly active users and a creator community of more than two million, faced the challenge of scaling crash and error management across Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and consoles while prioritizing the most critical issues for games that can have tens of millions of players. To address this, Roblox partnered with Backtrace.io, adopting Backtrace’s cross‑platform crash‑reporting and error‑analysis platform.
Backtrace.io implemented fingerprinting, deduplication, flame graphs, related‑crash analysis, rules‑based categorization, collaboration/integration and 35 custom attributes so developers could pinpoint frequent crashes, assign issues, and manage state in real time. As a result, Roblox scaled to handle millions of incoming crashes across platforms, cut the time to generate crash reports while increasing accuracy, and improved sharing and troubleshooting by sending direct Backtrace.io crash‑report links.
