Geberit, a European leader in sanitary products, faced growing data quality challenges as its product lines, production sites and systems expanded. After more than a decade using a homegrown Microsoft Access solution, increasing data volume and complexity—exacerbated by the Sanitec acquisition—led to inconsistent master data across ERP and PIM systems, inefficiencies in product lifecycle processes, and difficulty scaling governance across multiple countries and languages.

Geberit implemented an integrated passive data governance solution using BackOffice Associates’ Data Stewardship Platform alongside SAP Data Services and SAP Information Steward, enabling central monitoring, automated rule execution, stakeholder notifications and guided remediation. The platform synchronized multiple ERPs and PIMs, supported multi‑language users, automated failed‑data workflows and reporting, and made it possible to handle massive data volumes—resulting in faster error resolution, clearer cross‑departmental alignment, reduced IT dependency and measurable improvements in data quality and operational efficiency.
