Case Study: Yoga International achieves scalable, cost-effective cloud archiving and fast restores with Backblaze B2

A Backblaze Case Study

Preview of the Yoga International Case Study

Yoga International - Customer Case Study

Yoga International, led on technology by CTO John Daskovsky, was struggling with an unwieldy archive of hundreds of external hard-drive pairs created since 2013 while producing nearly 16 TB of video content per week. Finding and recovering files was slow, drives frequently failed, and the team had to rely on time-consuming disk-recovery work. To modernize their workflow, Yoga International selected Backblaze and its Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage service (using the B2 Fireball transfer appliance) to replace the brittle external-drive archive.

John combined a QNAP NAS for fast local editing with Backblaze B2 for scalable cloud archiving, using a B2 Fireball to ingest large volumes (up to 70 TB per transfer) and QNAP’s Hybrid Backup Sync to mirror files to B2 automatically. Backblaze enabled Yoga International to move the archive to the cloud within weeks, restore archived masters in seconds to an editor’s workstation, eliminate stacks of failing drives and costly recoveries, and put a cost-effective, scalable system in place for future growth. Backblaze’s solution delivered faster access, lower risk, and predictable scalability.
