Case Study: WunderVu achieves secure, instant, cost-effective cloud backup for 8K VR assets with Backblaze (B2)

A Backblaze Case Study

Preview of the WunderVu Case Study

WunderVu - Customer Case Study

WunderVu, a Pixvana production studio led by Executive Producer Aaron Rhodes, faced a growing storage challenge: 8K+ VR shoots that use 2–17 cameras can generate 1–10 TB per shoot and multiply into many local versions. Manually managing local storage and relying on LTO tapes was slowing production, so WunderVu turned to Backblaze for a cloud-first backup and access solution.

Backblaze implemented B2 Cloud Storage and the B2 Fireball data transfer service to ingest WunderVu’s large datasets, automatically back up local assets, and provide instant, shareable access. The B2 setup was easy to use, restored files in seconds, and cut storage and access costs to roughly one-quarter of Amazon S3 (B2 pricing: $0.005/GB/month storage, $0.01/GB downloads), freeing Aaron and his team to spend significantly more time on creative work.
