SermonAudio - Customer Case Study

SermonAudio, a rapidly growing audio hosting service that houses over 1.3 million sermons, was struggling as its storage and delivery infrastructure became costly and time-consuming to maintain. Unable to focus on new features because the team was stuck in maintenance, SermonAudio evaluated options and selected Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage (using the B2 API) to solve their scaling and cost issues.

Using Backblaze B2, SermonAudio moved audio and video files to the cloud and now uses B2 as the distribution source for subscriber downloads and streams (over 50 TB per month). The integration took a few weeks, cut storage costs by about 50% compared to their in-house solution, and enabled a chunked-caching approach (5 MB pieces) to reduce download charges — freeing the team to focus on product development and prepare for larger video workloads.
