Case Study: Panna Cooking achieves a centralized, instantly accessible video archive and affordable off-site backups with Backblaze

A Backblaze Case Study

High volume video producer finally gets rid of 100+ individual hard drives for one unified, reliable, cost effective solution

Panna Cooking, a video-first cooking site that delivers recipes and lessons from 40+ chefs, struggled with fragmented media storage — editors kept projects on individual workstations and over 100 external hard drives, making it difficult to find and secure old footage. To address the need for an off-site, affordable backup and easier access to video assets, the team turned to Backblaze ( Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage) as part of a broader storage strategy.

Using 45 Drives’ Storinator for centralized onsite storage and the Hybrid Cloud Storage package to link local storage to Backblaze B2 via Duplicity and Rclone, Panna migrated the 100+ drives into a single server and configured continuous background backups to Backblaze. The result: editors get nearly instant access to any asset, no more digging through drives, and off-site protection with B2 retaining latest versions even after local deletions — all at low cost (Backblaze B2 at $0.005/GB/month for storage).
